Urban Design and Planning Statement of Interest I am an urban planner
and registered architect whose strengths are in design and
visual communication. I still maintain a limited
professional practice for special projects. My research area
that most clearly overlaps with CEEDS relates to community
decision-making processes and how groups can reach a
consensus on planning and designs issues that is not a
compromise but rather a creative synthesis of ideas. In
particular, I am interested in how community participation
in planning and design decision making can be facilitated by
the visual thinking processes that architects and designers
use. These visualization processes are especially relevant
in designing schools that are responsive to the surrounding
community. Publications of Note
